J.C. MENSORE DISTRIBUTOR, INC.
Come and celebrate our 75th Anniversary, August 3, 2013
In 1938, John Charles Mensore began two projects to which he devoted his life - building his business, J.C. Mensore Distributor and raising his son John Joseph, who was followed by his younger sister Esta Marie.
J.C. Mensore started his business in 1938 with high hopes and six hundred dollars borrowed for the purchase of a truck. Soon he was delivering beer to a West Virginia service area he would manage the rest of his life.
Today, Mensore Distributor still distributes beer, and now has added coffee and water to its product line, operating out of the first refrigerated warehouse in the state.
John J. Mensore has worked for the family business since the age of 6, sweeping floors and observing operation of the company, just as his own son John C. Mensore II did.
After his father passed away in 1965, he and his mother, Katherine, decided to keep the distributorship operating. Katherine served as president; John as vice-president and John's wife, Tulane, as secretary/treasurer from 1969, the year that Mensore Distributor was incorporated, until 1989 when Katherine Mensore retired.
Seventy-five years later, the Mensore family is going strong, celebrating three quarters of a century in the beer business.
John J., John C. and Tulane now run the company, which has grown to over 15 employees and ten trucks.
